Exciting news from Hollywood
We’ve been quiet here at Summer Rain Films HQ, after all there has been a global pandemic, but, we have been busy: In both 2020 and 2021 we provided post production services to numerous films for BBC Sport; cut a short film and even a feature film! More on those soon, but we just wanted to start off my showing off our creative director Jonathan Glendening and his new laurels.
Jonathan’s original comedy feature screenplay ‘Mr Frosty’ has now won seven screenwriting awards at festivals around the world!
We at Summer Rain Films are delighted to share the news that our very own producer Archie Kalyana has joined the BBC. Archie, who won an Asian Woman of Achievement award in 2019 for her work in media and Sports production has joined the BBC as a Cricket Producer - Diversity. Archie will be based at MediaCity in Salford but her work will continue to see her travelling the nation & regions and even the world. Sadly, her new permanent position means Archie has left Summer Rain Films, but we wish her all the success in the world, our loss is the BBC’s huge gain.
New showreel for David Rees Talbot
Summer Rain Films was excited to continue their relationship with Kallidus to produced a series of exciting and dramatic training films for the Ladbrokes Coral group. The films were written and directed by feature film director Jonathan Glendening to be incorporated to the high-end digital training created by Kallidus. Using up to three cameras simultaneously Jonathan captured ‘a day in the life’ of a branch of Coral and Ladbrokes and how they deal with scenarios such as assault, theft and armed robbery. The project was shot by Tom J.Kelly on locations in central London. The thirty minute drama shot over only two days was then edited at Summer Rain Films for HD delivery.

Summer Rain Films were asked to provide production services to Wyevale Garden Centres for their Christmas product reel. The twenty minute film catalogued the progressive actions Wyevale had made to their Christmas strategy and campaign. The film was made as a call to action for their managers across the nation.
For the sixth consecutive year Summer Rain Films has provided post-production services to the BBC KICK OFF sports journalism film. The annual course for the aspiring sports journalists of tomorrow always ends with a reel to celebrate their achievements over the 8 week placements across the BBC Nations & Regions. The film was edited at Summer Rain Films in Brighton.
Summer Rain was delighted to provide post-production services to the new children's cookery book Kids in the Kitchen by Amanda Grant. We edited 6 films that were shot by Susan Bell for social media and a one minute trailer to promote the US publication of the book.
Archie Kalyana directed this film for the Co-op's British Food Roadshow promotion in a store in Wales. Camera work was by Tom J. Kelly and it was edited by Summer Rain Films.

Director Jonathan Glendening helmed eight dramatic films at Mansion House and Canon Street Station. The three day shoot was produced by Kallidus and was to demonstrate aggression in the workplace, dealing with aggressive drunks, fare-dodgers and angry customers. Summer Rain Films also provided the post production services including a full grade on DaVinci Resolve.
Alex Gunn from Arcadia SFX returned to Jonathan for the 4th time to edit his companies new showreel. Arcadia do all the practical, i.e. real, effects on a movie set. Be warned the showreel is very bloody, violent with huge explosions. It contains stars such as Stallone, Arnie, Bruce Willis, Viggo Mortensen and Tom Cruise.
Once again in partnership with e-learning company Kallidus, we produced the video content for a new project for Barclays. Jonathan Glendening directed the 100 timelines in the white infinity cove at Tower Bridge Studios. Shot in HD by D.P Tom Kelly. Produced by Archie Kalyana at Summer Rain Films.
